Especially for the person that was looking for the 1865 census a couple of
weeks ago:

The Illinois State Archives has a cite at
http://www.sos.state.il.us/depts/archives/serv_sta.html for genealogists.
Once there, call up "Censuses". It describes generally the 1855 and the
1865 censuses and says THEY will do research in townships of less than 2500
population. That's probably all of Clinton County in those days. If you
call up the linked 103.010 sight, you get a little bit more info. The 1865
census just lists the head of household and the number of family members by
age group and sex. You can send your request by email. If anyone tries this
out, let us know how it works.

Each page has a green bar across the top. Two other interesting sights are
the Global Search and the IRAD Holdings.

PS - We're still looking for volunteers to transcribe the 1855 and the 1865
censuses. And the 1910.
