Hi, Marilyn,

Yes, Santa Fe is a Township in Clinton County. The map at
http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilclint2/maps/clintonmap.htm shows that Santa Fe
and Carlyle are next to each other. Carlyle in this case could mean the
city of Carlyle or the Township of Carlyle.

Just to be sure you saw the other references to your surnames, did you check
the "Surnames and Queries" and then the "Search Clinton County Surnames and
Queries" and then enter your surnames, one at a time. If you think there
could be misspellings, mistyping, mistranscribing, etc, tick that second
circle that says "Surnames and Selected Soundex Equivalents." Then you
could choose any spellings, if any, you wish to include in your search.
When you get the list of hits, if you allow the computer to load that screen
completely, it will take you directly to the name you are seeking.

Perhaps some one from our mailing list will recognize a familiar name and
contact you.

I have a great granduncle named Anthony Hubert (his wife's name was
Christina Trennel or Kennel) The birth records of their sons, Lawrence,
Domonic and Nicholas show that the boys were born in Santa Fe and the
residence of the Mother as Carlyle, IL. Was there ever a town or township
named Santa Fe in Illinois? If not, what could the reference to Santa Fe
mean?
