Subject: [ILCLINTO] Marriage Officiants

As I'd say to Regis, "I'd like to use a Life Line. I'd like to poll the
audience."

On the 1850's - 1870's (more or less) marriages, there is no info besides
the names of the bride and groom, dates, and the name of the person that
married the couple.

I've been trying to put together a list of these people in an effort to
maybe get a religion or a town or both about the officiant to maybe get
another clue for these marriages. I've put together the pieces that I've
come across so far. The list is not complete yet since I'm not all the way
through that second book, but I thought I'd see if anyone has a clue that
can be added to this list. Or corrections, of course, to anything. There
could still be duplicates due to the penmanship/translation. Some of the
clergy might have served in a couple of locations.

Sorry the email is so long, but Rootsweb does not accept attachments. I had
no idea so many people had the authority to marry couples.

Officiants of Marriages - Clinton County, Illinois
1856 - 1874 - Books 1a and Partial 2

The early marriage licenses do not give locations or residences, but usually
lists the officiants of the marriage. This list might give a further clue
to the residence or to the place of the marriage. Although the register
often misspells the names, they are only supposed to be listed here under a
single spelling. Except for two guys.
