For those who may be researching families who had students in Alberger School, or for those who may this interesting, I have in my collection of Stein family items a Souvenir program that belonged to my Aunt, Helen Stein, when she was a student at Alberger in 1904 - 1905. The cover and back were made of embossed card stock and there was a place on the cover for your own picture.
The second page was headed ALBERGER SCHOOL, Clinton County - Illinois and (in the case of this Souvenir) September 12, 1904 - April 24, 1905. The Souvenir was presented by Gertrude Dorsett, Teacher. School Officers were, John Geiger - President, Marion Hester - Secretary, Adolph Thomas - Director, George Kock - Treasurer, and William Johnson - Co. Supt. Pupils were Mamie Rockwell, Lena Hoffmann, Emily Hoffmann, Alice Thomas, Mary Beltzhoover, Clara Poppenhagen, Grace Poppenhagen, Olive Geiger, Helen Stein (my aunt), Edith Beltzhoover, Pearl Krost, Lela French, Zorah French, Pearl Hester, Fred Hester, George Geiger, Arthur Thomas, Walter Hester, Frank Hoffmann, John Beltzhoover, Walter Geiger, Leo Stein (my uncle) and Eugene Stein (also my uncle).
There's no way to tell who was in which grade but there were three groups, the first started with Mamie Rockwell, the second with Helen Stein and the third with Arthur Thomas.
Hope this either helps somebody or is of interest to those researching in Clinton County. So often a small bit of information is so valuable.
