Abstract: Civil War diary, table of distance traveled, accounts, &
miscellaneous notes. The volume's diary section (71 p.) contains brief but
detailed accounts of marches, maneuvers, encampments, fortifications, and
battles, including skirmishing & fighting near the Big Black River, during
the Red River campaign, and at Shreveport (La.), Pine Bluff (Ark.), &
Nashville. In the back of the diary, Justice lists the mileage of each
regimental journey on foot, by rail or boat for the entire 1862-1865 period
(10 p.), and money expended during 1865 (4 p.). Other brief notes cover the
death of Elly Eunice Justice, an 1855 duel in Yuba County, Calif., and grain
measurement.
