Where was/is Lake Branch? Was that a school or a town?
According to the listing on the Clinton site:
Lake Township – Second most southeasterly township of the county. Formerly
part of Crooked Creek Township. 35.94 square miles.
It's kinda tucked away on the site, but if you go to the section for "cities
and towns" and then scroll down past the website listings, there's a link to
a list of locations past & present in Clinton County.
Lake Branch was actually an "area" centered around a branch of the river in
Lake Township. There is an old cemetery there (for which there are two
separate readings online, one at the Clinton site, and one at the temp site).
I was unaware there had been a school there, though. Would be interesting to
know more about this if anyone has more info!
