I am also interested in Row / Clary / Chaffin. I have a James Row who married Elizabeth Jane Clary in 1841 in Clinton Co.
They supposedly went to Texas and then back to IL -
Montgomery Co - where James died in 1858. They named a daughter Lavinia Ernst Rowe. There was a Lavinia E. Row married in Clinton Co. to Eli Chaffin - they went to TX.
I have never found James on the 1850 census. His obit states he was born in TX. His oldest children claimed on every census to have been born in TX. I could not find the widow and children in 1860 census. Elizabeth remarried in 1867 in IL.
I do not know whio James Rowe's parents are.
I do not know where James was born
I do not know Elizabeth Jane Clary's parents
Was Lavenis E. Row related to James?
Did James have a first marriage to Harriet Ellis?
