Hello everyone,
I am going to repost this in hopes that someone may be able to help.
My family lived in DeKalb
County...Somanauk....for many years. I am looking for any remnants that may
still be there. My direct line left the area in 1883 or so after the
marriage of my Great Great Grandparents. John Henry ARNOLD b. 7/23/1857 and
Mary Elizabeth STOUT b. 9/28/1858. They moved to Iowa after the birth of
their eldest daughter Jesse May ARNOLD 11/15/1882.

The family memebers that lived in Somanauk were: (I will just list them
rather than try to put the lineage due to 3 separate families.)

Alfred Arnold b. 12/10/1826 in Lincolnshire England.

Lucy Hale Arnold b. 2/8/1829 in England

They had 11 children, most of whom I assume have decendents in the DeKalb Co
area.

John Henry ARNOLD mentioned earlier.

Alice C. ARNOLD

Edgar married Alvina M. VON OHLEN and had at least one daughter Myrtle May
ARNOLD.

Alfred ARNOLD SR. (his given name may very well have been ALFORD as it has
been listed on documents as that too. It was his mother's maiden name) Owned
a dear little farm outside of Somanauk. My family has a pencil sketch which
was done in the later 1800's of this farm.

The STOUT family were in this county also. I don't know when the parents
John Vroom STOUT b. 4/2/1779 or his wife Elizabeth Field STOUT b. 8/10/1775
made it to Illinois from New Jersey, but they did at some point and were
cared for by their daugher Hannah. Many of their children were in DeKalb
county. Their children were:

Henry Field STOUT b. 7/21/1804
Peter STOUT b. 2/25/1806
John Batiste Dumont STOUT b. 2/20/1808
Hannah STOUT b. 2/13/1810
Maria Dumont STOUT b. 2/15/1812
Michael Field STOUT b. 9/27/1814
Cornelius STOUT b. 2/12/1818 died as a baby.
Cornelius STOUT b 7/1/1820

Henry married a Lydia SPERRY
Peter married a Hetty STOUT
John Batiste married Ann BERGER
Hannah married Abraham Briggs as an older woman.
Michael F. married Anna Maria Suydam

Anna Maria SUYDAM was the daugher of Simon Boice SUYDAM b. 1/4/1803 and
Johannah CORTELYOU. These folks donated the land which the Methodist Church
in Somanauk sits on.

The SUYDAMS had the following issue:

Sarah SUYDAM
Matilda D. SUYDAM
John H. SUYDAM
Simon SUYDAM
Jaques C. SUYDAM
Magdalen SUYDAM
Cornelius R. SUYDAM
child SUYDAM

There must also be another SUYDAM family around which is related. Michael
Field STOUT and Anna Maria SUYDAM STOUT's son John married a Dinah Maria
SUYDAM b. 3/26/1844.

I am very interested in finding relatives and information of those who are
still around the area. I have quite a bit of information that I can also
share.
