Does anyone know if there is a limit to the number of SSN applications that
you can request. I have 4 right now and I was not sure if I should put them
each in a different envelope or that they can all go in the same.

Also do I have to have any proof of relationship? I printed out the letter
that Rootsweb provided on each of them so I am providing the name, SS#, birth
date and death date. Do I need anymore?

Thanks for all of the answers to my question of when the SS system started.
Even though my great grandmother held several jobs, she died in 1931 so I
guess she is out. My great grandfather died in 1943 and worked his whole
life but they do not show a SS# for him in the Cal. death record and they do
for his wife who lived until 1972. I was trying to decide if it was worth
the $16.50 to see if there is an application.
