I still have a problem with one of George Washington Moore's 3 families who
lived in Clinton, DeWitt Co., IL.
George was born about 1842 in PA. He left his first wife in PA and traveled
with his 5 children and the woman who became his second wife. Susannah Harr.
He and Susan had a child before Susan died and was buried in Woodland
Cemetery, Clinton.

Anna (Hannah) Mabel Moore was born in Clinton, 1872, according to the 1880
federal census (the family was indexed as MOON), but Jan. 1876 on the 1900
census. She married 21 Aug. 1894 in Clinton, John HERMAN.
On the 1900 census a child was living in the household of George and his
third wife, Carrie Virginia BLACKMER, born in Mass. The child was called "Babe"
Herman, born April 1895. She was a granddaughter.

In 1900, Anna (Hannah) Mabel Herman, widow, was a domestic in a home where
the head of household may have been named HERMAN, but I can't read it..

George died 19 June 1902 and Carrie died 4 Jan. 1928. I did not find "Babe"
Herman or her mother after 1900.

I found Carrie on the 1910 census for Clinton. She was a boarder in the
Jesse Newcomb home and was a servant. Her birthplace was PA, which disagrees
with other evidence-- perhaps someone else gave the information. An Anna was
listed as Jesse's wife, but with the wrong middle initial and birthplace for
herself and her parents.
The 1920 census index does not list Carrie Moore, despite she being still
alive.

I did not find the widow, Anna Mabel Herman, on the 1910 census and believe
she may have remarried.

So, does anyone know of Babe Herman or her mother? The mother's marriage
would be the best clue. Records online seem to stop at 1900.
