Hello Jane, I live in the neighborhood where the Blands lived. The house
is no longer there--was torn down a few years ago replaced by a cul du
sac with big houses. The family is listed in the 1930 census--with LeRoy,
wife Estelle and two daughters Ledia and Marguerite. I had been in the
house many times--we used to have a childrens'' Bible class there. It was
a large Dutch Colonial, with a garage in the same shape as the house.
There are two cemeteries that might be the ones you are looking for.
The 1st is really called Milton Township cemetery and is on Geneva Rd
between Gary and Pleasant Hill Rd. Milton Township # is 668-1616 or
690-9036. If they have any information I would be glad to pick it up and
send it to you. I am going there on Monday--it just happens I am working
on a history of this six square block area and want some info they might
have.
The other one is called Jewell cemetery and is near the corner of
Jewell Rd and Gary Ave. There is an article in todays Chicago Tribune
about this cemetery. I don't think there have been any burials there for
many years, but I could be wrong. Good luck in your search, Grace
