Subject: CHAPMAN MILLS HANKS in Charleston and Matoon

I am looking for biographical or historical info on my ggggfather Augustus
Hartwell Chapman who m. Harriett Hanks (dau. Dennis Hanks). His sister and
brother-in-law were Robert and Caroline Mills who also settled in
Charleston. His brother Newton Whittlesey Chapman was a physician who
settled in Matoon.

Both Augustus and Newton served in the IL Vol during the CW. Augustus
worked for the railroad and as a revenure agent.

Any info you can share would be appreciated. These individuals and their
families show on the 1860 censs of Coles Co.
