Subject: [ILEFFING-L] Bruners from Harrison County, IN
Date: Mon, 13 Sep 1999 14:39:38 EDT

With all the recent activity on the Bruner page, I decided to try again to
seek any information on John H. Bruner who was living in Harrison County, IN
in the 1850 census. According to his Civil War enlistment papers, John H.
Bruner was born in about 1823 in Hawkins County, TN (as were several other
Harrison County, IN Bruner families-although I cannot make a connection.)
John married Cynthia Ann Avery and had five children, Isaac H., Susan, Mary
Jane, Joseph and Nancy Caroline. John enlisted in Company C, 49th Indiana
Volunteer Infantry in Oct 1861. He and the company subsequently ended up in
Bardstown, KY where John died of pneumonia in Jan 1862. His widow, Cynthia
and their children later went to Effingham County, IL, probably with other
Harrison County pioneers who went there. Cynthia later moved back to
Harrison County, IN according to pension records where she and her daughter
Mary Jane [Wise] Montgomery are recorded to have died.

Any information on JohnH. Bruner, his parents, siblings and descendants would
be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

John S. Raschke
