My great grandparents were Charles P. Booth(e) and Martha Russell. I
have found them in the IL marriage index and found an entry where
Charles purchased land in Kankakee Co, Norton TWP, IL on 29 July, 1865.
My grandfather Frank Eugene Booth was born in 1867 "near Cabery." My
mother always told me that Granddad and his brother ran away from an
orphanage when they were young and that the trail ended there. She knew
nothing about her grandparents. My grandfathers other siblings were
Nettie born in about 1855 and Judson born about 1865. I would like to
find out what happened to my greatgrandparents. Since they had land I
would think that there should be tax rolls and land records to show when
the property transfered. Perhaps there is something like a testamentary
record giving guardian ship for the kids. Any suggestions of where to
look or if you have information I would be most grateful to hear from
you.
