own, it came from a published work by a Catholic Priest who was researching
his Regnier Roots. I did, however, do a little follow up based on your

Generation No. 1
1. Joseph Ringey, born October 13, 1844 in Canada; died June 30, 1925.
He was the son of 2. Louis Ringey and 3. Genevieve Labercque. He married (1)
Matilda Patnode November 14, 1865 in Kankakee County, IL (Source: Illinois
Statewide marriage index, online database.).
Marriage Notes for Joseph Ringey and Matilda Patnode:
They were married by G Demars, Justice of the peace. This usually means, that
if they were Catholic, the church refused to marry them. It's quite possible
that Matilda was in a family way and the Church would not marry them. It's
also possible they married without consent of the parents. There was a G.
Demars who was St. Anne, Illinois Supervisor in 1867. After presuming that
the G Demars JOP and the town supervisor are the same person, I looked into
the Father Chiniquy Ledger to see If I could find this Regnier family living
near St Anne. I found over 40 entires with the Regnier name so I looked
further. and found an interesting entry. See notes for Rose.

i. Rose Ringey, born 1866; died 1962; married James Henderson.
Notes for Rose Ringey:
There is an interesting baptism record from the 1st Presbyterian Church in St
Anne, Illinois. As follows:
" 29 Apr 1867, baptized Rosalie Regnier, born 21 Nov to Joseph Regnier and
Basilisse Regnier" right below this entry it reads; "(Several of these
entries have a birth year of 1867 but have to be 1866) If that is the case,
it's possible that this is the baptism record of Rose, and her mother was in
fact pregnant when she married Joseph. Father Chiniquy, pastor was an
ex-catholic Priest and could have refused the marriage of Joseph and
Mathilda. The last puzzle, if my conjecture is correct, is why was
Mathilda's name registered as Basilisse? Was it a form of the name, or maybe
a baptism name? This needs to be looked into further.

Yonnally 1892; married (2) Sophia Kohls 1911.
iii. Lester B. Ringey, born 1870; died 1957; married Mary Nehring.

vii. Fred Ringey, born 1878; died 1964; married Annie M.

L'Acadie, St. Jean, Quebec, Canada.
5. Marie Therrien, born 1793. She was the daughter of 10. J. B.
Therrien and 11. Margaret Brosseau.
Notes for Etienne Regnier:
Etienne was living in Iroquois COunty when the 1850 census was taken. Along
with his Son Louis and his wife Genevieve(listed as Jane) & their chidren
Joseph, Julius, Mary and Flavia. Etienne's two sons Moses and Josph also
living in the same household.

Does anyone have a source for "St Mary's Catholic Church Records,
Beaverville, Iroquois Co, IL Baptisms, Marriages and Deaths 1859-1882?" I
don't see it on either the KVGS or ICGS web sites.
Does anyone have an email address for Rev. Albert H. Ledoux, Emmitsburg, MD?
I understand he's done some work on Kankakee & Iroquois Co French-Canadian
genealogy.
