I am currently trying to trace any living relatives of mine in the State of
Illinois. My grandparents lost contact with them in the early 1960s and I was
wondering if anyone can help me find out what became of them and their family.
One of my relations was Clara Beckman. Her grandparents were William H. and
Julia Stedman. They lived in Deer Creek township, Miami County, Indiana.
Their second daughter Mary was born in 1866 and married ........... Glass.
She died at the age of 30 with only one child surviving her. This child was
called Clara and was brought up by her paternal uncle in Illinois. She
married Arthur Beckman and died in Kankakee in 1973. I understand that Arthur
and Clara had an only daughter called Gretcher.
There is a history of the Daily Journal in Kankakee on the Web and in it is
mentioned Arthur L. Beckman, secretary and treasurer in 1953.
Can anyone remember this person and if so, is he the same Arthur Beckman who
married Clara Glass? Most importantly though, does anyone know Gretcher?
Any information will be gratefully received.
