Martin and Saline BARNETT SIMS. In 1902 she married Silas L. MOORE who

husband, two sons, Howard MOORE of West Frankfort, and Hugh MOORE of

MOORE, Winnie May JOHNSON, 78, died Dec. 24, 1950. She was born in
Middletown (Wayne County), Feb. 8, 1872, to Dr. and Mrs. John H.
JOHNSON. She spent her early life in the vicinity of Macedonia where
she attended grade school and at an early age she was converted and
united with the Macedonia M. E. church. On April 28, 1892, she was
united in marriage to James M. MOORE, a native of Hamilton County. Both
families, the JOHNSONS and the MOORES are pioneer families of Illinois,
the Johnsons moved to Illinois from Tennessee, being of Irish descent.
The Moores, also of Irish descent, came to Illinois from Tennessee. The
following children were born to Mr. and Mrs. MOORE: Ernest D. MOORE, of
Latham, Leonard R. MOORE, McLeansboro and Mrs. Evan VISE, Macedonia.
"Mrs. MOORE was a good wife, a good home maker and a good mother. She
lived a good Christian life trusting in her Saviour to carry her through
her sickness and her faith never waivered. Her life and influence were
reflected through her home, her husband and her children and friends who
knew her best. Besides her companion and children the following
relatives survive: Mrs. John SIMS, Mrs. Etta HUTCHCRAFT, Mrs. Clara
HANKINS, and Mrs. Omer HAYS, all of Macedonia; and the following
granchildren, Wayne, Ernie, and Loleta MOORE, James M. and Norma MOORE
and Evan HARVEY, James M. and Hosea r. VISE; also 2 great granchildren."

MOSS, John (M.), 77, "totally blind for more than half a century,
commited suicide last night by drowning himself in a well at his home in
Macedonia....Neighbors found his body in the well today weighted down
with a sack of rocks tied around his neck. No evidence of foul play was
found by officials. Relatives believe despondency over his blindness
caused him to take his life. He is survived by his widow." (Born Oct.
2, 1860; died June 22, 1931). (See Chapter XI).

More to come......
