Does anyone have any of these individuals in their SMITH trees?
WILLIAM T. SMITH was born 1768 in Chatham, Co. NC, and died June 1849 in
Smith Co.,Tennessee (Dixon Creek near Dixon Springs, TN). He married NFN
MORELY Abt. 1787 in Chatham, Co. NC.
William T. SMITH married a Miss Morley in Chatham County,
North Carolina around 1787. They had nine children all born
in North Carolina. Children of WILLIAM SMITH and NFN MORELY are:
i. ARCHIBALD SMITH, b. 1789, NC.
ii. JAMES DANIAL SMITH, b. 1790, NC.
iii. BETSY BURTON SMITH, b. 1792, NC.
iv. SALLY DAVIS SMITH, b. 1794, NC.
v. MACON SMITH, b. 1797, NC.
vi. COLEMAN SMITH, b. 1798, NC.
vii. WILLIAM SMITH, b. 1800, NC.
viii. JESSE SMITH, b. 1803, NC.
ix. RANDALL SMITH, b. 1806, North Carolina; d. 1889, Fulton Co., AR.

William Smith and family left North Carolina and moved to
TN,in 1809. They traveled by covered wagon and horseback
over the mountains and through the forests over very rough
trails. It was so rough they had to walk most of the way.
Mrs. Smith carried Randall the youngest, then three, much of
the way.
They settled in Smith County between Pleasant
Shade and Difficult near Carthage Tenn. Some of William's
brothers had come on before and settled in this community. The
brothers later built the First Baptist Church in that section
and Daniel, brother of William, was the first preacher, Randall
as a young man worked in the church with his Uncle Daniel in
Pleasant Shade, Tenn.
Archibald and brother James Daniel fought with Andrew Jackson at New Orleans
in the War of 1812. They lived not far from the Hermitage, home of Jackson
at the
time.

Randall SMITH married Sarah MITCHELL around 1825. After
a short time they moved to Bethany in Macon County north of
Red Boiling Springs, Tenn. (This is 20 miles north of Carthage TN)
where he built a home, saw mill, and grist mill powered by water.
Randall farmed, was a baptist preacher and mill wright.

The children of Randall and Sarah SMITH were Polly born 1826,
William Alien 1828, Elizabeth 1833, Sarah Ann 1835, Matilda
1837, James Daniel 1839, Emaline 1840, John Randall 1842,
Lucinda 1846, Eliza 1848, Henry R.1849, Jesse Thomas 1853. All the birth
years listed above are abouts excert Henry's.

Sarah SMITH died in spring of 1863. She is
buried at Walnut Shade about two miles from where they lived.
All their children were born at the same place on Salt Lick
Creek near Bethany. Randall took the younger children still at
home and moved to Arkansas in 1870. There he married a Jemima SNEED.
They had Miranda, George, Wilis, and Wiseman. Randall Died in 1889 Fulton
Co. TN in 1889.

Henry R. SMITH married Elizabeth A.SWOFFORD Oct 28, 1875 in Benton IL and
started
his family.

There is a James Daniel buried in The M&OF in Benton. Is there anyway to
check
if it is the same James Daniel listed above??
