Terry,
In a book entitled "Benton, Illinois - Our Pictorial Heritage", there
is a picture of about 30-40 people, the caption reads:
Members of the Smith family gather in front of Dr James Daniel Smith's
East Main Street home for the 1899 Smith family reunion. "Doctor Dan",
as he was popularly known, was one of the earliest physicians to
practice in Benton, His office (medicine room) was located in his home,
where he also prepared his own prescriptions. Dr Smith often drove his
horse drawn buggy many miles to visit sick patients. The relatives from
Tennessee who attended the reunion came up to Benton in covered wagons.
Most of the family members could not be identified. All of the doctor's
children, except his daughter Leona Smith Morgan are pictured, including
Dr William Henry Smith, Jesse Randal Smith, John Thomas Smith, James
Daniel Smith, Jr, Dudley Smith and Effie Smith Browning. Ten of his
grandchildren were also pictured including his last surving grandson,
John R Smith, 93, who still lives in Benton. He is in the second row,
fourth from left, being held by his father, John T Smith."
How much am I offered for a copy of this Picture ??!!
