GILBERT GROB
Gilbert W. GROB, 64, of South Roxana died 8:23 a.m. March 17, 1999.
He was a custodian at Roxana School District 1 for 30 years, retiring
in 1996.
He was born Sept. 14, 1934, in Mulkeytown, a son of Goldie INABNIT
GROB of Sesser and the late Henry GROB. Sept. 20, 1952, in Jefferson
County, he married Carolyn DUDLEY, who survives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Peace Freewill Baptist
Church in Pontoon Beach with the Rev. David MALONE officiating. Burial
will follow in Wanda Cemetery at South Roxana.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Paynic Home for
Funerals, 618 E. Airline Drive, Rosweood (sic) Heights, and from 9 a.m.
until the service time Saturday at the church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Cindy FENSTERMAN
and husband Dale of South Roxana; a son Rocky GROB and wife Becky of
South Roxana; three grandchildren, Heather, Melissa and Alyssa; a
brother, Gerome GROB of Mt. Vernon; and a sister, Kathy DOUGLAS of
Macon, Ga.
Memorials may be made to the Peace Freewill Baptist Church, where he
was a member.

ANDREW KOWALSKI
Andrew D. KOWALSKI, 88, of Tamaroa, died 3:40 p.m. March 15, 1999, at
the Fair View Nursing Center in Du Quoin.
He was a retired farmer and lime and cattle trucker.
He was born Nov. 30, 1910, in Kansas, he was a son of John and
Pauline KOWALSKI. He married Hilda H. WITGES in 1936 in Scheller and she
survives.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Barbara Catholic Church in
Scheller with Father Daniel JUREK officiating. Burial will be in St.
Barbara Cemetery in Scheller.
Friends may call 5 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Searby Funeral Home in
Tamaroa. The rosary will be prayed 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
He is survived by his wife of Tamaroa; a son, Donald KOWALSKI and
wife Joan of Tamaroa; three daughters, Mildred PEARSON of Southhaven,
Miss., Lorene LOPEZ of St. Louis, and Linda FERGUSON and husband Arlen
of Jackson, Tenn.; a sister, Emily KABAT of Scheller; a brother, Joe
KOWALSKI of Scheller; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. KOWALSKI was a member of St. Barbara Catholic Church in Scheller
and was a trustee of the church for many years. He was a member of the
Jefferson County Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gerald KOWALSKI;
three brothers, Pete, John and Stanley KOWALSKI; eight sisters, Cecelia
LISS, Martha MILOSHEWSKI, Mary BERRY, Jane MILOSHEWSKI, Annie KUDDAS,
Catherine KABAT, Helen SEXTON and Rose KOWALSKI.
Memorials may be made to the St. Barbara Cemetery or Masses and will
be accepted at the funeral home.
