Charles Richard MULLINAX, 83, of Mt. Vernon died 1:10 p.m. Jan. 21,
2000, at Jeffersonian Care Center, Mt. Vernon.
Mr. MULLINAX was a carpet layer at Mitchell Furniture for 20 years
and then at Jordan Furniture for 25 years until retirement.
He was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Jefferson County, a son of Peotlmy and
Jewel (DODSON) MULLINAX. On July 6, 1935, in Mt. Vernon, he married Ioan
I. (McRILL) MULLINAX; she surveves.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Hughey Funeral Home,
with the Rev. Buss HART officiating.
Burial will be at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In addition to his wife, Mr. MULLINAX is survived by three daughters,
Joyce SARTIN and husband Donald of Creal Springs, Carla MULLINAX and
friend Gene LOMAX of Mt. Vernon, and Donna ROGERS and husband Rob of
South Roxana; four sons, Don MULLINAX and wife Judy of Dallas, Texas,
Roger MULLINAX of Griffith, Ind., and Randy MULLINAX and wife Teresa
of Mt. Vernon; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three
sisters, Violet SCARBER, Idolene "Peg" SCHMITT and husband David, and
Wanda CARPENTER, all of Mt. Vernon.
Mr. MULLINAX was a charter member of Casey Avenue Baptist Church and
was a deacon at the church. He also was a member of Marion Odd-Fellows
Lodge 13.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two
sisters.
Memorials may be made to Casey Avenue Baptist Church and will be
accepted at the funeral home.
Mr. MULLINAX was proud of all his children, grandchildren and
great-grandchildren and very interested in all the accomplishments that
each one of them has done.
