I have worked with plat maps for 25 years. Yep! You've found the right gal!
Lets see if I can help you. When reading land descriptions, the easiest way
is to read them backward. Ex.: T=township; R=range; S=section. I am
assuming that 9 is the section number. 9 Most abstracts are not written
exactly the way you have it written. Writing it backward would be giving
all the directional locations first, then the section, then the township,
then the range.)
Now get your plat map on and find Section 9 in township 7 south, range 4
east. Now lets take your first one: you write under location 9 NE SE which
if your reading your land record backwards means that it is the southeast
quarter of that section, so in your mind divide the square section into four
equal boxes, one running up and down and one running side to side and look
at the one in the south east box.(that would be in the lower right box,
right?) You are now in the south east quarter. Are you with me so far.?
Next (reading it backwards again) it says NE. So in the SE box, find the
NE 1/4 of that little box and you have the location.
Is that clear as mud? Its not hard,really. In the front of my land record
books for Franklin county,, I included a map and directions on how to use
