I am trying to get this straight in my head (and on my desktop)...:-)

Does anyone know when the "Benton Standard" newspaper
folded or was merged with something else ?
(it is not in existence any more)

Does anyone know of dates and names of papers in the
other areas of FCI; e.g., Christopher, Mulkeytown, Sesser, etc..?

After yaking with cousin Carla, I have come to the
following conclusions (please yell back as to corrections):

Benton Standard 1849 - 1924+ ?

The Courier 1870's/1880's ?
The Legal Tender 1870's/1880's ?
The Grubbing Hoe 1870's/1880's ?

Franklin County Chronicle Dec. 1874 - Aug 1893 (printing plant destroyed)

Benton Republican Dec 1893 - Jan 1924
(became Benton Evening News when bought by
same publishers as Daily American)

Franklin County Independent 1908 - 1908 (merged with Benton Standard in 1908)

Benton Evening News Jan 1924 - present+ (2001+)

West Frankfort Daily American (before 1918) - present+ (2001+)
