Hi,

We have an old family tale of the James gang meeting up with a branch
of my family tree in Warren Co. IL. If the James gang were in the areas
all around Franklin then why not Franklin Co also?

+Mary Margaret Stokes
This couple had nine children.
One of them is named Jesse James b. 4-22-1892

The family tale goes that one night the James gang came
to John and Mary Claytons farm. They were looking for
a meal. John and Mary fed them and as a thank you
the gang left a Silver Dollar. Supposedly they left a big
impression on the family and so John and Mary named
their son after Jesse James.
