Opal FLANAGAN, 94, of Mt. Vernon, died 4:15 p.m. May 24, 2002, at
Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon. She was employed by International
Shoe Co. in Mt. Vernon and later worked in preschool nurseries in the Mt.
Vernon area. Mrs. FLANAGAN was born April 25, 1908, in Jefferson County to
Christopher T. and Isadore (GREEN) GREER. She married Leo B. FLANAGAN Aug.
30, 1935; he died July 25, 1987. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m.
Tuesday at Hughey Funeral Home with burial to follow at Union Chapel
Cemetery in Jefferson County. The Revs. Melvin LARSON and Merle FULLERTON
will officiate. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral
home.

Mrs. FLANAGAN is survived by two sons, Jack D. FLANAGAN and wife Cindy and
David D. FLANAGAN and wife Lynn, all of Mt. Vernon; two daughters, Rosemary
REANEY and Betty BRENTON, both of Mt. Vernon; 13 grandchildren; 17
great-grandchildern; one great-great granddaughter; and several nieces and
nephews. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church. She was preceded in
death by her parents and husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to the
care of Hughey Funeral Home, where you may call 242-3348 for obituary
