Although I've always been interested in family history, I never had the
time to do any research until about 3 years ago. It started when my
oldest grand-daughter needed some help in completing a family tree.
Then, my husband & I did some research on a medical basis as one of our
other grand-daughters was quite ill at the time; the doctors couldn't
find what was wrong with her & we wanted to see if there were any
hereditary diseases that could be causing her problems; (she is fine
now; although we DID discover some hereditary diseases, her medical
problems were due to severe allergies). Anyway, I got hooked" on doing
research on my family & my husband's family. We've traced our roots
back to England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Italy & Spain. It's been
challenging as some members of my husband's father didn't wasnt me
"poking my nose into family business" (their words); I was told to
"leave the dead be in peace". Anyone else have this problem? I've
never been real good at doing exactly what I'm told so I continued my
search; & it's been fascinating! It's also been very frustrating as I
have a few more "brick walls" that really have m stumped. I just wish I
had started my research several years ago when my grand-parents & even
some of my great-grandparents were still alive; sure could have made my
researching easier. But--when you're young you just think your
grand-parents (& parents) will always "be there". I don't know; maybe I
continue my searching because I'm naturally curious (or "nosy" as some
family members put it). Carol
