EDWARD M. BLESSIN
Edward M. BLESSIN, 90, of West Frankfort died Dec. 3, 2003, in Franklin
Hospital. He was born Aug. 27, 1913, in Dix, a son of Edward R. And Rosa M.
(BARBER) BLESSIN. He married Reta O. FISHER June 22, 1940, in Benton, Mo.
They were married for 40 years until her death Sept. 5, 1980. In 1983 he
married Dorothy KUEHN; she preceded him in death in 2001. In March 2003 he
married Mary Margaret BROWNING NEIBEL. Although this marriage was only eight
months old at the time of his death, both parties found a never-ending love
and devotion which a lot of people are never lucky enough to capture. They
truly made each other happy.

Mr. BLESSIN was retired as a mail carrier after more than 30 years of making
friends on his routes. He was also an Army veteran of World War II. He was a
32nd degree Mason and longtime member of Frankfort Masonic Lodge 567. He was
a member of First Baptist Church of West Frankfort and took great pride in
his church and family. He had a wonderful voice and was a very inspirational
participant in the Living Christmas Tree. In the past he had sung many
solos. He also dearly loved attending men's morning prayer services at both
First Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church.

Mr. BLESSIN is survived by a daughter, Carolynn M. HERBERT and husband Joe
of West Frankfort; grandchildren Denise Lynn SLOAN and husband Rodney of
West Frankfort and Joseph Scott HERBERT of West Frankfort;
great-grandchldren Marissa Lynn and Rodney Matthew SLOAN; a brother, Charles
BLESSIN of Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Marjorie WOODARD of Raleigh, N.C.;
step-daughters Salema GRANT and husband John of Stillwater, Okla., Jennifer
EADER and husband Michael of West Frankfort and Deanna NEIBEL of West
Frankfort; step-grandchildren Martin GRANT and wife Chrystal, Jason GRANT
and Michaela EADER; and a dear friend, the Rev. Brett BEASLEY. He was
preceded in death by his parents; two wives; a brother, Louis D. BLESSIN;
and a sister, Anna May MODERT.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Stone Funeral Home in West
Frankfort. The Rev. Bill FOX will officiate. Vocal selections will be
provided by Mr. BLESSIN's good friend Roger JENKINS of Elizabethtown, Tenn.
Interment will be in Bethel Memorial Cemetery at Mt. Vernon. Friends of the
family may call after 6 p.m. today at Stone Funeral Home in West Frankfort.
Masonic services will be held 7 p.m. The Lord now has a jewel in his choir.
He will definitely be missed for a long time by all those who dearly loved
