Its probably easiest to find the Obit that the surname is listed in and then search by the letter. <smile> not the easiest way to do it, thats why I still respond to requests.

Obit of John H. Kemper
Dated in ink as Sept 14, 1946. Newspaper unknown, but probably the Johnston City Progress.
Rites Today for Former Mayor of Johnston City.
Funeral rites were conducted at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Methodist Church in Johnston City for John H. Kemper, 71, an former mayor and alderman of Johnston City, who died at 2:30 o'clock last Saturday afternoon at his home, 601 West Eighth street, in Johnston City, following a lingering illness. His condition had been critical since last Monday.
Rev. Homer Young conducted the rites. Inerment was in the Johnston City cemetery.
Kemper had been a resident of Johnston City thirty-three years, during which time he served two terms as the city's mayor, several terms as alderman member of the Board of Education, Trades Council and City Library in Johnston City. He was a retired miner and a member of the UMWA. He was also a member of the Methodist Church.
Kemper is survived by a son, Fred Kemper, Alexandria, Va.; three daughter, Mrs. Ruth Fleming, Johnston City; Mrs. Albert G. Brown, Portland Ire., and Mrs. Harold Simpson, Chicago; a brother, William Kemper, Johnston City; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Knickles, St. Charles, Ky., and Mrs. Ben Woodruff, Terre Haute, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

Obit of Ada Lawrence
Dated in by hand in ink as Sept 2, 1945. Newspaper unknown but probably West Frankfort
Funeral rites were observed at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the First Methodist church for Ada Lawrence, 74, widow of John Lawrence, who died at 5:15 o'clock Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lee Steward, 810 South McClelland street, where she had resided for the past five years. Rev. F.F. Otto officated. Interment was in the Boner cemetery.
Mrs. Lawrence had spent most of her life in this city. She was a member of the First Methodist church. Besides Mrs. Steward, she is survived by four other daughters, Mrs. Charles Odel of this city; Mrs. Frank Bozarth, Mrs. Henry Watkins and Mrs. Wm. Harnett of Chicago; three sons, Hosea and Ralph of this city, and Ben Lawrence of Chicago, and a sister, Mrs. Lula Kirby of this city.

Obit of Alice Lawrence
Dated in ink as Oct 14, 1853. Newspaper: The Daily American, West. Frankfort Illinios.
Alice Lawrence Died Wednesday in Johnston City.
Mrs. Alice E. Lawrence, 77, died at 9:30 pm Wednesday in her home, 305 West Twelfth street in Johnston City. She was a sister of Wiley Horrell of this city.
Mrs. Lawrence was a native of Franklin county. Survivors are a son, Lester L. Lawrence, Johnston City, and five daughters; Mrs. Robert Crowe, Johnston City; Mrs. Frank Grissom, Belleville; Mrs. C.B. Bond, Upland, Calf.; Mrs. John O. Alexander, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Mrs. Robert Lacey, Chicago. A grandson reared by Mrs. Lawrence, Earl Herzog of Johnston City, also survives. Other survivors are a sister Mrs. Ona Sellhausen, Ontarion, Calf., 12 grandchildren and 13 great grand children.
The body is lying in state at the family home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Saturday at the First Methodist church in Johnston City, with Rev. J.W. Ditterline, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Boner cemetery, south of this city.
***NOTE** the EARL HERZOG listed as being a lived on Washington Ave in Johnston City as late as 1980. I used to go to school with his son David. I think he has passed now unfortunately. Nice man.
Obit of Ben Lawrence
Dated in ink as March 28, 1947. Newspaper unknown but probably Johnston City Progress or the Marion newspaper.
Mrs. Ben Lawrence, 678, a native of Williamson county, died at 5:15 pm Friday afternoon at her home, 303 West Tenth street, in Johnston City, after a year's illness.
Mrs. Lawrence had lived most of her adult life in Johnston City. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Johnston City.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a daughter Mrs. Paul Eli, Johnston City; a granddaughter, three sisters, Mrs. Sam Ahls, near Johnston city, Mrs. Fay Stamper, Guymon, Okla., and Mrs. George Felts, Gary Ind.; three brothers Hugh and Newt Fleming, Johnston City, and John Fleming, Carbondale.
The body is lying in state at home. Funeral rites will be observed at 2 pm Sunday afternoon from the First Baptist Church in Johnston City, with Rev. L.H. Moore of Anna, former pastor of the Johnston City church officiating. Interment will be in Boner cemetery south of this city.
