Leslie Wayne VINSON, 94, of Galatia, a former Akin resident, died at 8:45
p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Galatia.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at the Hobbs-Johnson
Funeral Home, Benton, with the Rev. Larry D. CYLATT officiating. Burial will
be in the Mt. Etna Cemetery, Akin. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.
Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. VINSON was born Nov. 5, 1909, in Du Quoin,
the son of Archie and Myrtle (SULLIVAN) VINSON. He married the former Wilma
BOLEN on Sept. 22, 1940, and she preceded him in death on July 31, 2001. He
retired from the Joliet Arsenal, where he was a Production Inspector. He was
an Army veteran of World War II and attended the Mt. Etna United Methodist
Church.

He is survived by two daughters, Norma Jean NEAL HEDGES and husband Thomas,
Grand Saline, Texas, and Fannie Lou VINSON HENKE and husband Lee,
Wilmington; four grandchildren, Jim HEDGES and wife Sasha, Canton, Texas,
Allie W. HEDGES and wife Angie, Dallas, Texas, Dianna LAWRENCE and husband
Justin, Garland, Texas, and David HENKE, Wilmington; seven
great-grandchildren, Joshua, Michael, Brady and Cassidy HEDGES, Jovi and
Cody HENKE, and Jaicee LAWRENCE; a sister, Eileen SUMMERS, Herscher; and
several nieces and nephews. Mr. VINSON was preceded in death by his parents,
wife, and a granddaughter, Janell HEDGES. Memorial contributions may be made
to the Mt. Etna Methodist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
