Emma FRENCH, 97, of McLeansboro died 5:30 p.m. Nov. 29, 2004, at Health Care
Center in McLeansboro. She worked as a nurse's assistant at East Moline
Illinois State Hospital for several years and was a homemaker. Mrs. FRENCH
was born Aug. 20, 1907, in Hamilton County to John J. and Rilda Mae
(LAUNIUS) JOHNSON. She married Don FRENCH Oct. 1, 1925; he is deceased.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday at Gholson Funeral Home in
McLeansboro. The Rev. John LEE Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at
IOOF Cemetery in McLeansboro. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at
Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Mrs. FRENCH is survived by sons Harold FRENCH and wife Marjorie of Port
Byron and Don LeRoy FRENCH and wife Marilyn of Kell; daughters Dolores YOUNG
of McLeansboro, Carolyn DANIELS and husband Gary of McLeansboro, Shirley
HOLLISTER and husband Jack of Port Byron and Barbara CHILDERS and husband
Donald of Mt. Vernon; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a
great-great-grandchild; and a brother, James J. JOHNSON of Cedar Lake, Ind.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven brothers and a
sister. Mrs. FRENCH was a member of McLeansboro First Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association and will be
accepted at the funeral home. For more information you may contact Gholson
