MARTHA MAE SMITH


Age 88, of Macedonia, Il. Died 6:30 am Thursday Feb. 3, 2005, at Franklin Hospital in Benotn.



Services will be Sunday at 1:30 pm in Morton and Johnston Funeral Home in Benton, with Brett Smith, Ifficiating and special speaker, Dean Smith, Entonment will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in Akin. Friends may call after 11:30 am Sunday to the funeral home.



She was born in Pond Creek of Franklin County, Ill on Feb. 11, 1916 to Otis and Lela (KNIGH) GALBRAITH. She married Evan SMITH on July 23, 1930 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana and he survives.



She was a Beautician, drove the station wagon and a playground supervisior at Akin School and a greeter at Wal Mart.



Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Jean SMITH of Benton and Pam (SMITH) YARBOROUGH of Carbondale. Eight grandchildren, Shelly Donn SMITH, Rob SMITH and Sherry (Greg) SUMMARY all of Benton, Kerry SMITH of Chicago, Rhona DORIAN of Vermont, Gary SMITH and Alan SMITH of New York and Brett SMITH of New Mexico. Ten great grandchildren (listed), a sister, Ruth LAMKIN of Danville, Il, a brother Lee Otis (Evelyn GALBRAITH of Champaign-Urbans, Il. Lyle WYANT who lived with the Smith's for 39 years and their special caregiver Donna Fitzpatrick of Benton.



Her parents, two sons Ron and Don SMITH, as daughter-in-law Shirley SMITH and grandson, Barry SMITH and four sisters, Verdie HARRWOOD, Vernie DIAL, Lila ALEXANDER and Louise PERRONE all preceded her in death.
