RUBY L. KOONCE
Formerly of Mulkeytown
Ruby L. KOONCE, 67, of Dowell and formerly of Mulkeytown, died Tuesday, July 26,
2005, in St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Services will be held at 8 p.m.
Thursday, July 28, at Gilbert Funeral Home in Christopher, with Brother Paul
RITTER officiating. Ruby's wish was to be cremated after her funeral. Friends
may call from 6 p.m. until the time of services on Thursday to the funeral home.
Memorials to the donor's choice or to the family will be accepted at the funeral
home.

She was born July 23, 1938, in Mulkeytown, the daughter of Russell and Blanche
(McMILLAN) FURLOW, who preceded her in death. She married William W. KOONCE Sr.,
on May 11, 1967, and he survives. Mrs. KOONCE retired as a CNA from Fairview
Nursing Home. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include 11 children and their spouses, Debbie LOVEL and her fiance,
Frank GREEN, of Du Quoin, Kenny EARNHEART and wife, Laura, of Mulkeytown, Nancy
MATHIS and husband, Virgil, of Du Quoin, Tara PYRON and husband, Keith, of Du
Quoin, Tim CHEATHAM and wife, Michelle, of Carbondale, Sherry STROUD and
husband, Bill, of Du Quoin, Billy KOONCE and wife, Ladonna, of Du Quoin, Brent
KOONCE and wife, Margaret, of Peru, Ind., Lisa HILL and husband, John, of Percy,
and Tracy KOONCE and Scott ROBARDS, of Dowell; numerous grandchildren; and six
brothers and sisters, Robert FURLOW of Caseyville, Pete FURLOW of Meadowbrook,
Raymond FURLOW, Clyde FURLOW and Betty NORRIS, all of Mulkeytown, and Ruth
WATSON of Christopher. Her parents; one sister, Louise MILLER; two
grandchildren; and one great-grandchild preceded her in death.
