Dorothy (Stringer) Robey

BENTON -- Mrs. Dorothy (Stringer) Robey, 89, of Benton,
died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005, in Severins Nursing Home.She
was born in Benton, Oct. 29, 1915, to Ewell and Etta
(Pilson) Stringer.On Feb. 26, 1938 she married the Rev.
Melvin Robey, who preceded her in death Sept. 27,
2000.Dorothy Robey was a homemaker and served with her
husband in his ministry at many churches throughout the
states.She was a member of New Life Church of God.She is
survived by three nephews, Jerry Stringer and wife, Nancy
of Flora, Don Robey and wife, Jo of Benton and Marvin
Robey and wife, Mary of Aurora; two nieces, Juva Wynn and
husband, Mack of Benton and Rosie Evans and husband,
Kenneth of Florida; a host of great-nieces and
great-nephews; and a special cousin, Jo Ann Richardson and
husband, Ray of Florida.Mrs. Dorothy Robey was preceded in
death by her parents; husband; brother, Gene Stringer;
nephew, Damon Galloway and other nephews.Services will be
at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, 2005, in New Life Church of
God, 707 N. Du Quoin St. in Benton, with the Rev. Rod
Joplin officiating. Burial will be at Masonic and
Oddfellows Cemetery in Benton. Visitation will be from 10
to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.In lieu of flowers,
memorials may be made to the New Life Church of God
Building Fund or Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes
will be provided at the church.The Morton and Johnston
Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
