To Carol E. Valentine and Jon Musgrove:
My great-great grandfather, James Alexander, and his son, James Jr. Alexander
(if these names represent those of my ancestors -- the names are so common),
had land in Gallatin County, Illinois, in the early 1830's. I am searching for
additional evidence that they were there. All that I find in Sumner County,
Tennessee, is that Jame went to Illinois and died insolvent. However, James
and his son James,Jr. or James Newton, son George W. daughter Errexine showed
up in Webster County, Missouri, in the early 1840's -- land records and 1850
census. Do you have any information, or can you suggest some other avenue of
research for me? Hopefully searching, Sarah Alexander Culton
