library was very helpful. I important to note that they may not be open
when you arrive. As I said I got lucky and they were open on Friday. I
believe they are only open a couple of days in the week. Like most small
gen. societies they are staffed by dedicated volunteers. Remember also
that the Greene County Courthouse is across the street from there. If you
know what you are looking for you could get copies of your ancestors vital
records. I didn't request any records from the clerk at that time, since
I previously mailed a request for and received a copy of my great, great
grandfather's marriage certificate from 1840.

Alice gave my a tour of the old house which has been converted into a museum.

>I didn't mention it but, additionally the Illinois Archives in Springfield
has a number of very useful documents on microfilm and the employees are
very helpful. On a previous trip I found various ancestors on the
microfilmed census records and also since they were farmers I found a 1880
microfilm copy of Farm Production Records that described all of the produce
and animals including their values on my gg grandfather's farm in Christian
County.
