Hi Jack, That Maberry graveyard is in terrible shape, with weeds, trees
growing up, etc. I don't know when it was "walked," for the info in the
Greene Co. cemetery book, but I would not be surprised to find out that
Stephen Wood is indeed buried there, but that the headstone has either fallen
down (as several were when we were there). Also, since it was so long ago,
it's possible that the head "stone" could have been made out of wood and it
has deteriorated. Even his son's headstone (Amon) was quite worn. I had
intentions of trying to get to the cemetery this last fall and get people
together for a cleanup, but I had two wedding to attend on the two weekends
that I was in St. Louis, and knew that I would not have time enough to get
the job done. I would think that early spring would be the best time to look
at the cemetery for signs of a headstone. With winter now here, it might be
hard to get up there. Also, once spring arrives, the poison ivy & weeds will
again be grown up on everything. Perhaps I can again try to get a group
together next spring to go do a search. The man that works the farm which is
around the cemetery gave me permission to go there to clean it up, but it's
been several years ago, so I would need to contact him again before
proceeding. I'll keep you posted.

Is there anyone on this list that knows more about this cemetery? Elaine
Powell
