Message Board Post:
I have recently read a slave narrative by Norvel Blair, an African American farmer in Grundy County in the 1880s. (The narrative is posted on the web at http://docsouth.unc.edu/neh/blair/blair.html if anyone is interested in reading it.) Blair was involved in several lawsuits over property with Jerry Collins, L.B. Ray, John G. Reading, J.N. Redding, and a Mr. McNellis. In skimming through this site, I couldn't find his name listed either in death records or farm records. Does anyone happen to have any information on him? My class in African American autobiography would like to know more about him.
Sincerely,
Lisa Eveleigh
