I received the following e-mail privately but thought I would give to the
list to see if anyone could help. Please note that the doctor here is also
listed in a census as a farmer. James.

James,
I too am very curious about these records, my great great grandfather, of which
we have little to no information on, was suppose to be a physcian with an
office
in Mayberry, Wayne co and Garrison, Hamilton County. H is name was
Wilson Butler, he shows up in the 1880 Census for Wayne County, living in
Fairfield. We know he married Elizabeth Thomason Haley in White County
in 1874 and my Great Grandfather Dock Butler was born in Fairfield in
1876. I have in my possession a letter written by Wilson Butler to Dock
in Feb. 1895---He has signed his name Dr. W. Butler. He is talking about
going to his office in Garrison once a week, and about going to his office in
Mayberry also. There must have been someone in Wayne/Hamilton County
that he was associated with to have ended up there from where???? He was born
approx. 1820, so he was not a young man when he came to the area and set
up practice-I also have a picture of him that has been handed down. The
1880 Census records lists him as a farmer. Have you ever heard any mention
of him? I see that the graduating year for your Physician is 1878-1879 which
is very near the years that Wilson showed up.
Thank you
Pamela Duprest
