I just found out that my grandfather, Oscar Bond, born 1901 in Stoddard Co
MO, son of Samuel Riley Bond and Martha Thomas was dropped off at an
orphanage in McLeansboro after his mother died. From there he was adopted by
Max and Anna Pilz of St. Louis or Chicago and renamed William Matthew Pilz.


(Of course, I find this out AFTER I travel from Virginia to McLeansboro for a
weekend!)

Does anyone know about an orphanage that would have been in McLeansboro
1900-1910? Would there be records kept at McCoy library?
