Barb,
I have a Louisa Douglass who married James P. McQuary, her sister Sara
Catherine married William T. Gibson, and anothr sister Frances Douglass
Forester married Elisha McQuary.
There is a James W. Gibson who married Martha Johnson on 31 Dec 1848 in White
County, IL. If James Gibson was deceased this could account for two Martha
Gibson, one being ie a daughter-in-law and not a child of the Gibson family.
Some of the family members listed on the "obscure piece of paper," are listed
on the 1860 Federal Census for Hamilton County, Il, Post Office Rectorville.
I found the William Beck born in Ky and his wife Martha Beck aged 47 born in
IN and the children. The children all born in IN. (IN Marriage records can
be at the Indiana State Library up to 1850. I am seeing GIPSON and don't
know if there is a connection to your GIBSON Family. These GIPSON seem to be
born in TN where the GIBSON father, Amos was born in IN. He could be a
brother to Martha Beck since he is 46 years old. His wife Sara was born in
GA.
The children listed in Amos Gibson family are: R. M. 21 m
IL
Nancy E.
18 f IL
Fanny C.
17 f IL
William
T. 14 f IL
James A.
12 m IL
Sarah J.
10 f IL
Amos P.
6 mo m IL
Living in this household is Henry C. SLOAN 28 M. born TN Wheel wright
On the 1870 Census for Hamilton County:
William BECK 75 m farmer 800 250
KY
Martha 45 f kepping house
IN
James D. 21 m farm laborer
* IL
This James D. was listed on the 1860 as being born in IN. I would look at
the actual census record to verify these transcriptions.
You said this was a probate deed. Who was the deceased? Amos Gibson
probate was 23 Feb 1881 and the administrator was Jas W. Allen. The probate
record is in Box 37. If you do not have the "probate packet," I would
suggest that you get that packet as the heirs should have signed for any
distribution from the estate. The land was probably being sold to pay
creditors of the estate.
There was a Robert Gibson's probate record dated 2 Feb 1852 and the
administrator was Daniel ?????I don't know if that was Daniel Gibson. Those
records are in Box 5. There is probate for John Gibson 14 Oct 1872.
Benjamin M. Gibson, Box 26 dated 30 Aug 1873, and there is a William R.
Gibson, Box 47, dated 1 Jun 1892.
I did not find a probate record for William Beck.
