My guess is that the small stones are for children, the one stillborn
May 18 1842. He/she had the initials CVM, the last name being Munsell.
The other had the initials VM. A family member may have done the
carving, as parents many times did not spend the money for
professionally done stones like the ones on the bottom row. Who knows
why both of them don't have dates.
