Subject: [ILHARDIN] Re-Ragon Cemetery Location-2
Date: Tue, 17 Aug 1999 23:24:10 EDT
Janette,
I understand that you're in the process of updating the Hardin Co., IL
Cemetery book. I got this from your cousin (copy of his email below). I'm
looking for the location of the RAGON Cemetery. It was probably in McFarlan
Pct. (possibly in Range 8). In the 1980 book there's a note that it no
longer exists, yet there is a listing for a Jeremiah RAGAN and another man.
This Jeremiah was a brother to my 2g-grandfather, Isaiah RAGAN. They were
the sons of William RAGAN & Mary LEEPER. They also had a brother named
Alexander who is buried in the Stone Church Cemetery.
Somewhere, when I visited Hardin County a couple years ago, I read that
vandals had ravaged this cemetery, knocking over headstones ... etc. This
just made me sick since I'm certain that it was probably the family cemetery
for William & Mary. I wonder if you could help me find the location of this
cemetery. Any ideas how I could find it? ANY help would be appreciated.
I would *really* like to locate this cemetery and have it included in your
update to the book.
Thanks,
Michael W. RAGAN
