If your ancestors came to America to escape
persecution in their native land, you may want to
look at this online exhibition by the Library of
Congress.

It gives a brief history of the religious sects that
came to America, and you may view images of original
manuscripts or art pertaining to the groups. Pretty
interesting stuff!
