Steve,

Based on your information I am guessing you want before 1852 date but this
is all I found so far. The LDS Family History Center's have available to
order on microfilm two years 1878 and 1890 (on the same roll) the roll
number is
Collector's book, 1878,
1890<http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=261969&disp=Collector%27s+book%2C+1878%2C+1890>;
Hardin County (Illinois). County Clerk 965707
(this might be a roll I got thinking it was taxes and ended up being
something else I will check) and the prices went up recently so they are
5.50 a roll to view for 6 weeks. Since it says that these records were taken
from the County Clerk's office I would assume (but would check) that these
are the only years back that far they have. Maybe someone else knows if this
is correct. It also means you can contact them and see if they have more.
One thing though is this would indicate to me that they were kept in the
courthouse which was burned down several times.

Since this film was also listed under Land and Property I clicked on that
link and found these three books also

Deeds, 1878-1942; index,
1880-1904<http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=231007&disp=Deeds%2C+1878%2D1942%3B+index%2C+1880%2D>;
Hardin County (Illinois). Recorder

Land book, 1814-1879, and entry book,
1865-1885<http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=261867&disp=Land+book%2C+1814%2D1879%2C+and+entry+bo>;
Hardin County (Illinois). County Clerk

Pope-Hardin County (Illinois), land atlas & plat book,
1987<http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?display=titledetails&titleno=560542&disp=Pope%2DHardin+County+%28Illinois%29%2C+l>;

I have several rolls of Hardin County and on Wednesday when I am at our FHC
I will check and see what they are. If you don't have access to a FHC let me
know and I will see what I can do about ordering and looking up stuff for
you. I am usually busy when I am there as I am a volunteer and get pulled in
to help people all the time, but it can be slow some nights.
