1998 FALL CONFERENCE and 30th Anniversary
October 23-24, 1998

This 30th annual Fall Conference will be a very special event for the
Illinois State Genealogical
Society!
First: Dr. John Philip Colletta will give four lectures about our immigrant
ancestors covering
passenger records, ancestral towns in Europe, stories of Ellis Island, and
your ancestor in historical
context.
Second: A series of lectures on using technology in genealogical research,
which cover genealogy
on the Internet, scanning and enhancing pictures to computer discs, making
the best use of CD-
ROM technology, putting your family history on CD-ROM, and using the
computer as a
genealogical tool.
Third: A special presentation on using oral sources in research or
presenting an oral history.
And lastly: A group of lectures on archives and special research sources,
which include
naturalization records, European research at Newberry Library, Cook County
Archives,
Genealogical power! Civil War records, and Railroad records.
The Conference is in the Chicago area, very easy to access by main highways.
A special room rate
is available at the Hampton Inn adjacent to the William Tell Conference
Center. A luncheon
session is set-up for presidents and/or representatives of local societies
to discuss common
problems.
And the awards program will honor those who have given much time to
genealogical pursuits in
Illinois.
