Hi Ron,

Thank you for your response to me query on the Hepners in Kewanee.

Our Phillip Hepner and his wife Minnie (Bock) Hepner came to America via
Canada from Germany.
Did your family make a stop in Canada? I have read it was the lest
expensive way to get here.

Another question--the census taker listed the Hepners birthplace as Hi
Germany. I have heard of High German and Low German, but am not sure
exactly what that designation represents. Do you have any idea?

Following this EMAIL is an outline descendant tree of our Hepners. The age
is about right for Phillip Hepner to have been the same family as Wilhelm
Freidrich Hoepfner.

By the way, I have wanted to come to Red Cloud to research Willa Cather. My
Scottish Gr grandfather was a cousin to John CATHER, and John Cather's
wife's family insists John and Willa Cather were cousins. Someday I would
like to come and research her ancestry to see for myself. My Grandfather
was named Andrew Cather Kinkaid, after the Cousin, John Cather.

Here is our HEPNER chart. Thank you for checking it out, and for your hel.
