Hello fellow Southern Illinoisians,
My search has me looking for Smith, Hassell, Bateman, Cornwell, Kirk,
Halloway, Dawson, Compton, Nelson, Middleton, Hogue, Goodrich, Lowery, Reece
or Reese, Martin, Dabney, Hart, Lance, Tolley, Whitesides, Wilson, Dailey,
Upton, Boxley, Shaw, Shanks, and Moore (as if that isn't enough!)
I was told that Eliza Marshall Goodrich's father was Samuel Goodrich,
who at one time held some kind of office in Mt. Vernon, Jefferson Co, IL.
I'm thinking maybe coroner or something of that nature. Does anyone have any
information confirming this? I am living in Peoria, IL right now, and don't
get to Jefferson Co much any more. Maybe Samuel married a Marshall woman and
this is how Eliza got her middle name. This is all speculation as I can't
prove or disprove any of it.
