Hi Betty,
Mary "Polly" (Cole) Carter's parents were Richard2 (Edward1) Cole b 19 Oct
1795 in NC, m 1818 in Clinton Co, IL and d Crook Fork Cem, Clinton Co, IL.
He appears to be friends with all the Carters in the area.
Her mother was Beulah (Carter) b 1799 KY d 1860 Clinton Co, IL.
Ancestry.com recorded her parents as John Carter and Achsah Thornburgh
migrating from Cumberland, Scarborough Co, Maine. We have some family proof
this may be solid because these names continue in my family, but I am
looking for additional proof. Salt Lake City has record that this line was
Mormon and John died in Adams Co, IL. Isn't that around Nauvoo and that
skirmish?
Mary "Polly" married Joel A fairly young in Williamson Co, TN, formerly
Rutherford Co, and migrated to Washington Co where many Carters lived. It
was recorded in a local history book that her parents wrote to those
relatives and asked to take care of them. We still have to piece the puzzle
together. Their children were: Francis Morris, Sarah Bell, James, John
"Jake"-d young, Nancy Cates, William-bachelor, Martha Jane Middleton, Dolly
Frances, and Ellis L-d young.

Who was the parents of Mary Cole Carter? There are Coles iN Franklin Co
that migrated from WmSon Co Il

The Atchison line is probably connected. they were probably some of them in
Washington Co, know that one was near Boyd Jefferson Co and they may have
gotten over into Washington, Co Il.
