MEXICAN VETRAN DEAD
Alfred Piper, age 89, passed away last Saturday.
Alfred PIPER age 89 died at his home in Franklin County on Saturday August 12, pneumonia being the direct cause of death.
He was born in SMith County, Tn and came to this county when quite a boy and more than 75 years had live in this and anjoining county. His home when he lived in Jefferson County was at Elk Paririe. For 15 years he belonged to the Christian Church and died with the full belief that he was going to land of eternal rest.
Mr. PIPER was a soldier inthe Mexican War and while in the service of his country a more dutified soldier and servant could not be found.
All of his fmaily that is left is two sons, J. W. Piper of Mt. Vernon and Joseph Piper of Murpheysboro.
Funeral was held Sunday at Hickory Hill. (THis must be South Hicklry Hill JCI)
