News from Jersey Co. Historical & Genealogical Society, by Marty Crull:

WWII LETTERS:

Cindy Linn and Loretta Williams have taken on the responsibility of
publishing a book of WWII letters from and to Jersey County, via the Jersey
County Historical Society. Please send whatever you can to be included in
this book. This book is reserved only for WWII letters. All other letters
will be excepted and placed in the appropriate files, but will not be
included in this book.

CHENEY MANSION:

Construction of the renovation of the Cheney Mansion still continues. A
full time supervisor has been hired to oversee the renovation. Volunteers
are still needed to do almost anything.

CEMETERY NEWS:

A very special thanks goes to Alton Memorial sales folks for assisting our
volunteers who have been restoring and repairing the stones and markers at
the Noble, Lamb and Meadow Branch cemeteries. The "staff" has worked right
along side the volunteers and also provided the necessary heavy equipment
to lift the very heavy stones back in place.

Pictures are still needed of all known cemeteries in Jersey County for an
upcoming book on the cemeteries. The books will be published by township
and contain a list of cemetery readings and recorded information. They
will include an up-to-date plat of the area showing the present day land
owners and/ or renters.

VETERANS:

Information is still needed on where Jersey County Veterans, from each and
every war, are buried, whether they are in Jersey County or not. They only
had to be from Jersey County when they entered the service or are now laid
to rest in Jersey County, regardless of where they originally came from.

If anyone can help with any of these projects, you are requested to write to:
